Street League Super Crown 2017

The 2017 SLS Nike SB Super Crown World Championship is over and Nyjah did it again

This years Super Crown was in Los Angeles and went down last weekend. The event started of with the women’s competition were Lacey Baker, Leticia Bufoni and Co, fought for the championship. After that the men's finals was on and Nyjah Huston showed us once again why he is the best contest skater on planet earth. But first things first, lets start with the women's final.

Leticia Bufoni vs. Lacey Baker

Qualified for the women's final were the following skaters

  • Lacey Baker
  • Leticia Bufoni
  • Pamela Rosa
  • Vanessa Torres
  • Alexis Sablone
  • Aori Nishimura
  • Samarria Brevard
  • Mariah Duran

The two favorites for the win were Leticia Bufoni and Lacey Baker and they showed us that right from the start. They both started off with solid runs and high scores. It was quite clear that the battle between these two girls will come down to the best trick section. At the end it was Lacey Baker who could defend the title of SLS Women’s Super Crown World Champion with a solid nose manual nollie heelflip out on the manual pad. She got a 8.7 for that and so repeated her win from 2016.

Men's Final

Qualified for the men's final were the top eight Pros from the 2017 SLS season:

  • Nyjah Huston
  • Louie Lopez
  • Kelvin Hoefler
  • Shane O’Neill
  • Torey Pudwill
  • Tiago Lemos
  • Carlos Ribeiro
  • Dashawn Jordan

The finals started off as usual with the run section. Here Louie Lopez (who won the Golden Ticket due to his win at Tampa Pro) started out with a fantastic run and a 9.1 score. Actually, the whole run section was a 9-club massacre. After Louie, it was also Nyjah and Shane who scored a 9.4, 9.2 and another 9.2. The best trick section started a bit slower. The first two rounds were solid but not as impressive as the run section. That changed when Torey first entered the 9-club with a back smith UP the hubba. After that, the massacre continued. Nyjah instantly answered with a nollie heel noseblunt down the rail (9.3). Carlos Ribeiro did a switch heel back smith down the hubba (9.1), Shane did his legendary switch tre double flip (9.4) and Kelvin Hoefler did a halfcab noseslide to backtail bigspin out (9.1).

After a tough battle at the end it was again Nyjah Huston who was on top and won the 2017 SLS World Tour. He stole everyones show with a massive back 270 kickflip lipslide down the rail. It was his fourth nine at this event and the highest scored trick of the year (9.5). What a show and congrats Nyjah on the title. Well deserved!
